This Oxylabs review looks at a premium proxy provider that sells residential, mobile, ISP and datacenter proxies, plus scraping tools, mainly to businesses. It sets out what Oxylabs’ own pages say as of 21 October 2026, what an independent test found, and what a proxy does and does not do for an Instagram account.
We do desk research only. We did not sign up for, pay for or run Oxylabs, so everything below comes from Oxylabs’ own pages and from the independent sources named in the text, all read on 21 October 2026.
Quick answer: Oxylabs is active and is one of the larger proxy providers. An independent Proxyway review dated 13 October 2026 rates it 9.3 out of 10 for infrastructure, and also calls it premium-priced. It is built for business use such as web data collection, not for Instagram growth, and a proxy does not make rule-breaking automation safe.
Status: active. Price from: $30 a month on the entry plan; residential traffic from $6 per GB at small volumes. Safety: a proxy changes your IP address, not Instagram’s rules; identity verification is required before use.

What Oxylabs is
Oxylabs is a Lithuanian company that sells proxy networks and web-data tools. Our earlier post said it started in 2012. The independent Proxyway review we read now lists 2015 as the founding year and Lithuania as the country, so we use those and treat the old date as unconfirmed. It sits in our Proxies category.
On its homepage Oxylabs lists these product lines: Web API (search and scrape), proxies (residential, mobile, ISP, dedicated ISP, datacenter and a Web Unblocker), an Agent Browser for automation and scraping, and ready-made datasets. It also lists tools for connecting AI agents to its endpoints.
The homepage makes several claims we cannot check ourselves: more than 15,000 clients, ISO/IEC 27001:2022 certification, a SOC 2 Type II report for its scraping products, and cyber and technology insurance. Treat these as the company’s statements, not our findings.
The old SUEScore-style verdict and the “tried out the service” line from earlier versions of this page are gone. Those claims came from a former writer and we cannot support them.
How it works
A proxy is an intermediary server. Wikipedia describes it as a server application that sits between a client requesting a resource and the server that provides it, so the destination sees the proxy’s address instead of yours (Wikipedia: proxy server). The same article notes that the proxy operator can see your traffic, which is why you should trust the provider you route through.
With Oxylabs you buy traffic (gigabytes) or IPs, receive credentials, and point your software at the gateway. Residential proxies use IP addresses of real home connections; datacenter proxies use addresses from server farms. Residential addresses are harder for websites to flag, and they cost more per gigabyte. Our Blazing SEO (now Rayobyte) review covers another proxy provider.
Before you can use the proxies, Oxylabs requires an identity check. Proxyway describes a form asking for company or contact details and your intended use, with extra data on request. Some target categories, such as banking, mailing and government sites, are restricted.
Features
Proxy pools
- Residential: Oxylabs advertises 175 million or more IPs in 195 locations
- Mobile: about 20 million IPs, according to Proxyway
- Datacenter: about 55,000 advertised for the rotating pool
- ISP (static residential) and dedicated ISP options
Pool size on a sales page is not the same as what you will see. In its benchmark Proxyway recorded 3.2 million unique residential IPs from 3.6 million requests, and 21,714 unique US datacenter IPs against an advertised 41,000. That is still a large pool, but it shows why advertised figures need care.
Performance
- Residential success rate averaged 99.93% globally in Proxyway’s tests
- Rotating datacenter success rate of 99.98%
- Residential response time around 0.60 seconds for small pages
- Live chat support answered in about 2 minutes in Proxyway’s test
Tools and targeting
- Precise location targeting, though not every filter can be combined
- Unified billing and budgeting controls across products
- Web Unblocker and Web API for scraping jobs
Proxyway also lists weaknesses: no two-factor authentication, session management or activity log in the account, and lower mobile success rates in the US and Brazil.
Oxylabs pricing (read on 21 October 2026)
Oxylabs’ residential pricing page lists monthly plans and per-gigabyte rates that fall as volume rises.

| Plan | Price | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Welcome credit | $5 free | Applies to any product |
| Starter | $30 a month | Entry plan |
| Basic | $100 a month | |
| Flexible | $500 a month | Marked most popular |
| Enterprise | Custom | From $2,500 a month, by quote |
| Residential volume | Price per GB |
|---|---|
| Up to 5 GB | $6 |
| Up to 20 GB | $5 |
| Up to 125 GB | $4 |
| 1,000 GB and up | $2.50 |
- Trial: a $5 credit, with no upfront commitment on the page.
- Refunds: the page says all self-service purchases are non-refundable.
- Other products: Proxyway lists $30 for 4 GB of mobile traffic and, for datacenter, $30 for 30 shared IPs or $30 for 60 GB on the rotating pool. It also says pay-as-you-go has been removed and plans expire monthly.
The pricing page does not say which volume tier each plan includes, so check the plan details before paying. Our earlier review called Oxylabs one of the most expensive services; Proxyway also describes it as premium-priced, but we do not rank it against other providers’ current prices because we have not checked those. For comparison, see our Bright Data review and our Decodo review.
Safety and risks, including Instagram use
The company side looks serious: Proxyway describes identity checks that are not invasive, and Oxylabs publishes certifications. Two cautions apply to readers of an Instagram site.
A proxy does not make automation safe. Oxylabs sells infrastructure for data collection. Its homepage does not mention Instagram growth, and we found no statement from Oxylabs that its proxies are suitable for Instagram automation. Instagram has said it treats outside apps that inflate popularity as a breach of its Community Guidelines and Terms of Use, and that it removes the fake likes, follows and comments they produce (Instagram, November 2018). Changing your IP address does not change what the action is. If a bot logs into your account, Instagram can still limit it, and Instagram has said accounts that keep using such apps may see their experience affected. Our guide to Instagram automation covers the wider picture.
Account and data risks. Because the proxy operator sits in the middle of your traffic, use encrypted connections and never route logins you cannot afford to expose. Proxyway also notes the lack of two-factor authentication on the Oxylabs account itself, and reader comments on that page mention bans and refund disputes. Those comments are unverified, and we mention them only so you know to read the terms.
Practical points if you still plan to use proxies with social accounts:
- Read the provider’s acceptable-use terms and Instagram’s terms before you buy.
- Do not expect a refund on self-service plans.
- Use a separate, low-stakes account for any experiment.
- Turn on two-step verification on the Instagram account.
Pros and cons
Pros
- Very large advertised pools across residential, mobile, ISP and datacenter types.
- High success rates and fast responses in an independent test.
- Published certifications and insurance claims, with identity checks on customers.
- Fast live chat support in the reviewer’s test.
- Per-gigabyte price falls at higher volumes.
Cons
- Premium pricing and monthly plans that expire; no pay-as-you-go.
- Self-service purchases are non-refundable.
- No two-factor authentication on the account, according to Proxyway.
- Advertised pool sizes were well above the unique IPs measured in tests.
- Aimed at business use; no Instagram-specific product we could confirm.
Who it suits
Oxylabs suits teams that collect public web data at scale, check ads or prices in different countries, or need dependable infrastructure and accept paying for it. Proxyway recommends it for anyone considering a premium provider for serious proxy use. It does not suit a creator who wants cheap Instagram growth, and it is not a way to make a bot safe. If growth is your goal, see our roundup of Instagram growth services and read the risks first.
Alternatives
Other proxy providers we cover include Smartproxy (now Decodo), Luminati (now Bright Data) and Stormproxies. Proxyway, in its Oxylabs review, names Decodo as a cheaper option if Oxylabs is out of budget. Browse everything in the Proxies category, and see social media automation tools if you want a tool that does not need you to manage proxies at all.
